Now I love her even more
Obama's Prepare to Plant White House Vegetable Garden
"While the organic garden will provide food for the first family’s meals and formal dinners, its most important role, Mrs. Obama said, will be to educate children about healthful, locally grown fruit and vegetables at time when obesity has become a national concern.
In an interview in her office, Mrs. Obama said, “My hope is that through children, they will begin to educate their families and that will, in turn, begin to educate our communities.”
Twenty-three fifth graders from Bancroft Elementary School in Washington will help her dig up the soil for the 1,100-square-foot plot in a spot visible to passers-by on E Street. (It’s just below the Obama girls’ swing set.) Students from the school, which has had a garden since 2001, will also help plant, harvest and cook the vegetables, berries and herbs.
Almost the entire Obama family, including the president, will pull weeds, “whether they like it or not,” Mrs. Obama said laughing. “Now Grandma, my mom, I don’t know.” Her mother, she said, would probably sit back and say: “Isn’t that lovely. You missed a spot.”'

Quote of the Day
Just what I needed to hear today....
"Make up your mind to be happy—even when you don’t have money, even when you don’t have a clear complexion, even when you don’t have the Nobel Prize. Some of the happiest people I know have none of these things the world insists are necessary for satisfaction and joy. Why are they happy? I suppose it is because they don’t listen very well. Or they listen too well—to the things their hearts tell them. They glory in the beauty of the earth. They glory in the rivers and the canyons and the call of the meadowlark. They glory in the love of their families, the stumbling steps of a toddler, the wise and tender smile of the elderly.
They glory in honest labor. They glory in the scriptures. They glory in the presence of the Holy Ghost.
One thing I know for certain: the time we have here goes by far too quickly. Don’t waste any more time sitting on the bench watching life pass you by." -Joseph B. Wirthlin, Lessons Learned in the Journey of Life

The Zoo!
We went to the National Zoo this past weekend with my Uncle Terry, Reece and their kids, and my cousin Janine and her kids. It was so fun to see everybody. Seth has been saying "fun zoo" "fun cousins" and "fun train" (we rode the metro into dc) at least once an hour since Saturday!

Our trip to the country
Well, we had a great vacation a couple of weeks ago. We went down to my mom's to start driving around looking at land. No realtor involved yet, just getting out and seeing what we could see. Beautiful farms, so many beautiful farms. But, everything that is in our price range is mostly wooded and slopped....not ideal farming land. We'd like a mixture of woods and flat pasture. So I think we will need to go down on our acreage to find something we want. Anyways, here are some pictures from the trip.
Our trip consisted of a little of this...

...a lot of this...

...a little swing time (every time Seth got on the swing he would sing "I Am A Child of God" over and over and over)...

...Seth, of course, had to keep up his manish figure on the trip, so he participated in a little yoga and some baseball...

...a little farm gazing...

...and I'm not sure which boy in the family got more excited about seeing this...I think it was a tie....

Reason # 176,385,068,372,849,584 why I love Rhett
Rhett went to a Polyface drop-off launch party last night. One of the farmers from Polyface was there and spoke. Rhett came home all dreamy-eyed. This is one of the first things I heard out of his mouth,
"Taking care of animals and taking care of the land....that's what makes my heart sing"
What more could a wannabe farm wife ask for?
Let's go make our dreams come true, my love.
