Edison's Day

So, you know how farming makes Rhett's heart sing? Maria Montessori makes my heart sing (and farming and food and funky floral patterns). I just came across this video and I think my jaw was open the whole time. What a wonderful and peaceful home this is. I must say I'm a little jealous. How much do you think I can pay someone to come help us be this family?!?!

Enjoy!

Yeah, it's one of my favorite Montessori training movies, but remember, it's only a snapshot of his day. If your day was only 20-30 minutes long, you could make it just as peaceful, or if you took out only the really good, peaceful moments of your day, you could certainly have 20 minutes making your home look like the pinnacle of serenity. That aside, it's still one of my favorites; I love showing it to people who think their children are helpless or incapable of being helpful and contributing members of the family when they are still young.

The previous post is exactly right. A blog I read (1+1+1=1) always seems to look like everything went so well with her toddler in tot school, but she has a minute by minute post somewhere on her site and it is hilarious. A recap leaves out those tantrums and moments when things flop.

I know a lot of people who do Montessori at home ;) Look at La Paz Home Learning - http://lapazfarm.homeschooljournal.net/ Her kids are older now, but when her little one was smaller, the things she did with her Montessori-style were so awesome.
